This 14-story federal courthouse features a dramatic laminated insulating glass and limestone façade.

Challenges

Glass and limestone curtain wall system was designed to be not only attractive, but also blast resistant.

Solution

Designed robust connectors and inserts to accommodate blast loads and the weight of the large limestone units

Limestone panel spans were reduced and the stone thickness at the vent connectors was increased

Light gauge steel panels were located behind the limestone panels for blast resistance
