Description  

Encompassing roughly 1.2 million square feet; the Getty Center comprises the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Education Institute for the Arts, the Getty Grant Program, the Getty Information Institute, the J. Paul Getty Trust, the Getty Research Institute for the History of Art and the Humanities, the J. Paul Getty Museum, an auditorium, central garden, and several cafes and restaurants.

  • Extreme seismic design

  • 10 foot cantilever sunshades

  • Over 1,300 field fixes

  • Unitized construction with units up to 20 feet tall

  • Operating louver system with the galleries

  • Northridge Quake occurred during construction resulting in significant modifications to the structure

  • Five years start to finish

    Solution   Working with the architect and the contractors, Larson provided solutions to the many challenges this project provided. Perseverance, communication, and ingenuity brought this project to a successful conclusion.
