Designed new Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) clarifier as the primary treatment for over six million gallons per day of paper mill effluent.
Unique Challenges
Paper mill effluent (waste water and sludge) must be cleansed before it is discharged. This company wanted to upgrade its cleansing process to be more efficient and effective. Because of the high volume of effluent treated each day, this system is relatively complex and has to be durable enough to work continuously without failure.
Solution
This solution is tailored to the company’s specific needs and includes:
Three 125 horsepower feed pumps
One 60 horsepower pressure screen
Two 20 horsepower sludge pumps
One 100 horsepower DAF air induction pump
Other assorted small motors
Motor control center in electrical room
Two Powerflex 700 VF drives with isolation transformers
Quantum PLC rack to interconnect with the existing Modicon-984 PLC control system.
The clarifier is up and running efficiently and cleansing the effluent effectively. The company is able to meet or exceed EPA requirements for waste water discharge.
